Botho Kollberg


Botho Kollberg was a highly decorated Generalmajor in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. The Knights Cross of the Iron Cross and its higher grade Oak Leaves was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Kolberg was killed during the LeningradNovgorod Offensive to relief the Siege of Leningrad. As a result, he was posthumously promoted to Generalmajor and awarded the Oak Leaves to his Knights Cross of the Iron Cross.
